Skift Acquires Airline Weekly to Deepen Franchise in the Airlines Sector

Skift Inc., the largest travel industry intelligence and marketing platform, today announced the acquisition of Airline Weekly, including the subscription-based newsletter and related assets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Airline Weekly, launched in 2004 by Jay Shabat, Seth Kaplan and Jason Cottrell, is read by airline CEOs and senior executives worldwide looking for a more interesting, valuable and comprehensive overview on the ins and outs of the airline business. The weekly reports cover whos flying where, new marketing approaches, fleet, finance and key airline and airport data, along with insightful analysis and new ideas.

The business of airlines is a sector of the global travel industry that Skift has covered extensively since launching in 2012, with breaking news, in-depth analysis, exclusive interviews and the weekly free Airline Innovation Report newsletter led by Brian Sumers, Skifts Senior Aviation Business Editor.

The Airline Weekly subscription newsletter will remain a separate premium brand within the Skift family, led by the same editorial team.

Now that we are in our sixth year at Skift, we have been exploring various ways to expand our roots in the travel sector and go deeper into our existing focus areas with more expertise. With Airline Weekly, the Airline Innovation Report, and our global forums, Skift now offers the strongest business coverage of commercial aviation in the world, said Rafat Ali, Founder and CEO of Skift.
