ZHealth Launches New Cardiovascular Software That Improves Both Documentation and Coding Accuracy

gbafNews28

This week, ZHealth unveiled Etch„¢, the first-ever software platform that successfully addresses both the documentation and the coding challenges of complex cardiovascular procedures. Etch„¢ will be launched at the 2018 American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) convention in Miami Beach, Florida.

From our 18 years of consulting, we found that only about half of these cases are accurately coded by hospitals. The average under-coding can be $140 to $200 per case, and that is just for Medicare reimbursement, said Dr. David Zielske, president of ZHealth.

We created Etch because we saw a need in the industry for improved coding accuracy rates associated with structured reporting systems. Weve spent the past four years crafting a way to document procedures that is not only physician-friendly, but that also captures 100% of the essential information needed for proper coding. Our interactive anatomical maps make the system faster and clearer than traditional voice dictation alone. We built in an expert system to automatically code these cardiovascular procedures and give more power to the reviewer. Dr. Zielske also noted that their patent-pending software interfaces directly with hospital hemodynamic systems, inventory systems, lab scheduling, and patient records to minimize documentation time and avoid redundant entry.

ZHealth reported that Etch has already been deployed in several hospitals with hundreds of cases successfully documented. Our product has been a clear success. For example, one of our partner hospitals now captures hundreds of thousands of dollars in previously undocumented device charges alone. Plus, physician adoption is accelerating, and we are seeing even their most complex cases being captured and automatically coded in Etch, Dr. Zielske said.

The company expects many of its current consulting and publishing customers to consider the Etch platform. We are excited to present our cardiovascular version at AHIMA 2018, with interventional radiology to launch next year, said Dr. Zielske. Coders will find that Etch helps improve coding accuracy and time to billing, and were excited to share this with them first.
