Spigelman, M.D., who has served as an Independent Director of Synergy since August 2008, will now assume the role of Chairman of the Board, effective immediately. Synergys outgoing Executive Chairman, Gary S. Jacob, Ph.D., will leave the Company to pursue other opportunities.
As a co-inventor of plecanatide, Gary played a critical role in the discovery, development and FDA approval of Synergys first product, TRULANCE, which is now available to help benefit patients suffering from chronic GI conditions, said Troy Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of Synergy Pharmaceuticals Inc.
