Stroock Adds Experienced Litigator/Dispute Resolution Partner Joshua Sohn in New York

Strong background in commercial and regulatory matters involving real estate, construction and securities litigation; arrives, along with six associates, from Watson Farley

Maintaining a strong growth pace to start the second half of the year, Stroock adds its third new partner since July with the arrival of litigation partner Joshua Sohn to the firm’s New York office. Joining with Mr. Sohn are six associates.

Coming from Watson Farley & Williams where he was a partner, Mr. Sohn litigates complex commercial disputes involving securities, construction and real estate and real estate finance, in New York state and federal courts. He represents clients in SEC investigations and enforcement actions, and in a wide range of corporate officers’ liability cases and federal securities class actions. Mr. Sohn also appears in arbitration proceedings before regulatory bodies and private tribunals.

In the real estate industry, Mr. Sohn advises banks, developers, public agencies, utilities and others in multimillion — and in some cases, billion-dollar — matters including violation of covenants, joint-venture partner disputes and defaults and loan accelerations, involving both domestic and overseas parties.

“Josh, along with his team, have a breadth of experience that provides a dynamic addition to our litigation practice,” said Stroock co-managing partner Alan Klinger. “We’re pleased to add a lawyer of Josh’s caliber and accomplishment to continue to build on our track record of excellent client service.”

The six associates arriving with Mr. Sohn are:

Shauneida Navarrete, whose practice focuses on employment and commercial litigation disputes, as well as litigation risks in strategic partnerships and mergers.

Sarah Roe, who advises clients subject to the rules of the U.S. Treasury Dept.’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Robert Mantel, who advises clients on complex commercial litigation and regulatory investigations and has litigated in state and federal courts.

Alexandra Lyon, whose practice focuses on employment discrimination and commercial litigation disputes.

Daniel Lewkowicz, a litigator whose work touches on commercial contract disputes, environmental and regulatory matters, product liability, employment and copyright infringement.

Mark Lee, who handles complex legal matters, including real estate, civil RICO claims, operating and employment agreements and breach of contract allegations.

Mr. Sohn said, “I’m very pleased that my team and I are joining Stroock. We’re well aware of the firm’s reputation for taking on large-scale, complex and innovative matters across the full range of litigation, which makes it an ideal place to grow our practices in collaboration with our new colleagues.”

Mr. Sohn, who has co-authored numerous articles on litigation and dispute resolution, is a previous winner of the New York State Bar Association President’s Pro Bono Award and the President’s Award from the Center for Constitutional Rights.

He earned his law degree in 1997 from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he was managing editor of the Cardozo Law Review and earned the Samuel Belkin Award for outstanding contribution to the law school. He earned his B.A. in 1994 from the University of Michigan.

Stroock provides strategic transactional, regulatory and litigation advice to advance the business objectives of leading financial institutions, multinational corporations and entrepreneurial businesses in the U.S. and globally.  With a rich history dating back 140 years, the firm has offices in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, D.C.
