Northern Trust’s Ray Odom Elected an ACTEC Fellow

Northern Trust announced today that Raymond C. Odom, National Director of Wealth Transfer Services, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel (ACTEC).

ACTEC is a professional society of peer-elected trust and estate lawyers who have demonstrated the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience. Fellows are selected on the basis of experience, professional reputation and ability in the fields of trusts and estates and on the basis of having made substantial contributions to these fields through lecturing, writing, teaching, and bar activities. Odom shares the honor of an ACTEC Fellowship with 12 other Northern Trust partners.

Rays election as a Fellow of ACTEC is a testament to his passion and deep expertise in trusts, estates and taxation, said Hugh Magill, Chief Fiduciary Officer at Northern Trust. With almost 40 years of experience, Ray brings tremendous value to the field and to Northern Trusts clients.

In his current role as National Director of Wealth Transfer Services at Northern Trust, Odom works closely with regional offices and wealth strategists across the country to help affluent clients with their wealth transfer planning needs with specific emphasis in outcome measured gifting. Prior, Odom served in the dual capacity of trust administrator and wealth strategist, where he was responsible for the administration of large, complex trusts for individuals and families. He began his career at Northern Trust in 1980 in the role of Tax Counsel.

He frequently publishes articles and gives presentations sharing his expertise in the area of wealth transfer planning for high net worth individuals and families to clients, professional advisors and professional organizations around the country.

Odom received a bachelors degree from Valparaiso University and a law degree from Ohio State Mortiz College of Law. He is a Certified Financial Planner and has served as an adjunct professor in the MBA program of Benedictine University. He is an attorney certified to practice law in Illinois and before the U.S. Tax Court.
