NHS Scotland Selects ServiceNow to Help Vaccinate 5.5 Million Citizens in Just 90 Days

gbafNews28

ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), the leading digital workflow company that makes work, work better for people, today announced that NHS Scotland is using ServiceNows Now Platform as the digital backbone of its program to rapidly roll out the vaccine to protect citizen health in the fight against COVID-19. NHS Scotlands vaccine management system, developed on the Now Platform, integrates and digitizes the entire vaccine administration process. Launched nationwide on January 20, the system enabled NHS Scotland to hit the ground running, scheduling 220,000 vaccination appointments in the first 12 hours.

Developed in partnership with ServiceNow, NHS Scotlands vaccine management system represents a seismic shift in our response to COVID-19 as it assists with allowing the entire vulnerable population of Scotland to be protected quickly and efficiently “ leading to an anticipated easing of lockdown, said Deryck Mitchelson, Director of Digital and Chief Information Security Officer at NHS Scotland. The vaccine management tools provided by ServiceNow have been vital to expediting Scotlands vaccine efforts as we enter what we hope will be the final stages of the fight against COVID-19.

To meet the demand for vaccinations in a timely and safe manner, NHS Scotland required an extensive system to drive the Scottish Governments ambition to vaccinate 5.5 million citizens in just three months. Built on the ServiceNow Now Platform, in just six weeks, NHS Scotlands vaccine management system enables the scheduling and recording of vaccinations for all 5.5 million citizens and allows the general population to book their own appointments through a Citizen Portal.

Supporting NHS Scotland Through Each Phase of the Pandemic

Scotlands response to COVID-19 has been supported by ServiceNows platform at every stage of the pandemic. NHS Scotland used ServiceNow Safe Workplace suite of apps to quickly develop effective national contact tracing systems, manage PPE inventory throughout the country, and keep track of Scotlands testing data. In this next phase, it is using the Now Platform to roll out its Vaccine Management programme, to manage its country-wide vaccination programme. ServiceNow has been a strategic partner in helping NHS Scotland respond to each phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, from monitoring our PPE levels to managing contact tracing challenges, added Mitchelson. Now, as we move into what we hope is the final phase of this pandemic, we have chosen ServiceNows solutions to help us roll out our vaccination programme.

With more than 15 billion COVID-19 vaccines required worldwide, managing the vaccine process is one of the most significant workflow challenges of our lifetime, commented Paul Smith, EMEA President at ServiceNow. Because of the agility of the Now Platform, we were able to help NHS Scotland develop and deploy its vaccine management solution in just six weeks. We are proud to support NHS Scotland with its most pressing and vital task of getting Scottish citizens vaccinated and healthy.

ServiceNow will continue to introduce new solutions to support organisations vaccination efforts. More information can be found here.

Northwestern Mutual Commits $5 Million to Children's Wisconsin and the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Largest Standalone Donation

gbafNews28

MILWAUKEE, Feb. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — This year, approximately 10,500 children in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer. Among those diagnosed, blood cancers, like leukemia, are some of the most common forms of pediatric cancer. To support those affected both nationwide and in its hometown of Milwaukee, Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation, today announced a $5 million commitment to Children's Wisconsin to support its MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

The funding, which will span across five years through 2025, represents the company's largest standalone donation connected to its national philanthropic cause of childhood cancer. The partnership will launch both in-hospital navigator and psychosocial programs to help guide patients and families through diagnoses, treatment and recovery. It will also expand existing programs and services, such as the Northwestern Mutual Day Hospital for Childhood Cancer, to continue to provide outpatient care for children with cancer and blood disorders.

“Through this contribution, patients and families will experience individualized patient support and greater access to resources for navigating their journeys from diagnosis to healing,” said Eric Christophersen, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. “We're proud to help strengthen the exceptional care childhood cancer patients receive at Children's Wisconsin.”

This donation will also support patient care and a community navigator for families impacted by sickle cell disease, an often life-threatening blood disorder that occurs in nearly 1 out of every 400 African American births. Like childhood cancer, sickle cell disease is a life threatening condition in need of novel and comprehensive therapies. It is a natural extension to the company's Childhood Cancer Program, and also aligns with its commitment to addressing racial disparities through a Sustained Action for Racial Equity Task Force.

“Since their first gift in 1978, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation has been a steadfast supporter of the Children's Wisconsin mission,” said Meg Brzyski Nelson, president, Children's Wisconsin Foundation. “This $5 million commitment will help every single child and family who turn to Children's Wisconsin when they are diagnosed with childhood cancer or blood disorders.”

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, a blood disease or immune deficiency disorder, finding the right medical care is every family's first and most important step. Today, more and more families are choosing the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Wisconsin, the largest cancer program in Wisconsin and one of the top programs in the country. The multidisciplinary center provides sophisticated treatments and cutting-edge research for the common to the rarest and most complex childhood cancers and blood disorders.

To recognize the donation, the hospital will also feature the Northwestern Mutual Welcome & Information Center at the main entrance of its new Clinics Building 1 at Children's Wisconsin Hospital-Milwaukee location.

Since 2012, Northwestern Mutual's Childhood Cancer Program has focused on advancing childhood cancer research, providing family and patient support and serving as a resource to families managing the long-term effects of cancer treatment. With the support of Northwestern Mutual employees and financial advisors nationwide, the company has contributed more than $35 million and funded over 455,000 hours of research through the program.

Stori raises $32M Series B round to become Mexico's leading credit card issuer for the rising middle class

gbafNews28

MEXICO CITY, Feb. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Consumer fintech Stori announced today that it has raised $32.5 million Series B funding led by Silicon Valley-based Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from existing investors Vision Plus Capital, BAI Capital and Source Code Capital. The new financing will support the company's rapid growth as it is quickly becoming a top credit card issuer in the country. This round brings the company's total funding to $50 million to date and brings together an investor set with deep global consumer fintech experience.

In the middle of the pandemic, Stori has been working tirelessly to meet Mexico's huge, growing demand for flexible consumer credit and reliable digital financial services. Stori has focused on providing access to credit cards first because of the strong value the product offers consumers, including the ability to make online and in-store purchases, manage short term or emergency cash needs, and build a credit history.

Currently, less than 15% of Mexico's adult population have access to a credit card. Meanwhile a country like Brazil with similar GDP per capita sees three times higher penetration. In Mexico, credit cards are concentrated with high-income customers, leaving out the massive middle- and emerging middle-class populations. One big challenge is that most of those consumers do not have a solid credit history yet. Providing access for thin- and no-file applicants requires innovative, tech-enabled underwriting that is constantly updating and improving. Another challenge during COVID-19 is that many consumers are hesitant to visit a bank branch to apply for a credit card in person. In January 2020, Stori launched its credit card product complete with a fully-digital in-app experience. The reaction from the market has been incredible with the company already reaching one million credit card applicants.

Stori is growing its customer base fast and is well on the way to transforming the credit card landscape in Mexico. “By tailoring global best practices in underwriting, technology and user-friendly design, combined with rapid iterations, we've found the right formula to deliver a compelling product and experience to the large underserved population in Mexico,” says CEO and Co-Founder Bin Chen, who previously worked at Capital One and Mastercard in both U.S. and emerging markets. “Our goal is to become a leading digital bank for the underserved population in the region. The new investment will support our fast growth and will enable us to further strengthen our leading capabilities. In addition, we are benefitting from our investors' extensive experience building category-defining fintechs like Affirm, Ant Financial and Webank.”

Stori's co-founder, Marlene Garayzar, said, “It has been amazing to watch our team deliver such huge progress even during the pandemic. Our people and our capabilities are truly differentiated from what I have seen in 15+ years of financial service experience in Mexico.”

Stori will continue to leverage its customer-centric, tech-driven approach to provide access to digital financial services for millions of new customers. The company has built a scalable data infrastructure with feedback loops and iterations that are constantly accelerating to set the company ahead.

Mexico is the fastest growing e-commerce market in the world. It has one of the top 15 economies in the world. Yet, less than 15% of Mexicans have access to credit cards,” said Mercedes Bent, Partner at Lightspeed. “We're thrilled to lead Stori's Series B financing and partner with the team as they continue to expand access to credit cards and build flexible digital financial products for people in Mexico.”

“We have a structural thesis on digital fintech models and are investing in these models globally, particularly in emerging markets. Vision Plus led Stori's series A round and continues to super pro rata in this round. We are impressed by the team's execution and excited by the local market opportunity as evidenced by the rapid growth,” said Yiran Liu, Partner at Vision Plus Capital.

“We are very excited to continue supporting Stori. Stori's strong team has led it to become one of the fastest growing digital banks in Latin America. We look forward to their continued success and growing adoption by users,” said William Zhao, Managing Director at BAI Capital.
