Endace: Market Demand for Packet Capture in Security and Network Forensics Drives Partner Program and Channel Expansion

Global growth in the packet capture market and the importance of packet capture as a key source of data for network security are fueling expansion at Endace.

Organizations increasingly recognize how important full packet capture is to underpinning effective network security and network and application performance management, said Endace CEO Stuart Wilson. The appointment of new distribution and reseller partners globally, and the continuing growth of our Fusion Partner Program, reflect the increasing trend in packet capture adoption and the need for a common hardware platform, as reflected in research this year from ViB, Enterprise Management Associates and other analysts.

Endaces Fusion Partner Program is a community of market-leading security, network and application performance monitoring vendors. Endace works with these partners in its Partner Lab to validate integration of their products with the EndaceProbe„¢ Analytics Platform. Partner solutions leverage the EndaceProbes 100% network history to enhance security and network forensics, accelerating issue investigation and resolution. IBM Security, Micro Focus, Senseon, Cisco Stealthwatch and Network Critical all joined Palo Alto Networks, Splunk, Cisco Firepower, Gigamon, IXIA, Plixer, DarkTrace, BluVector and others in the Endace Fusion Partnerprogram in 2019, with more partner announcements to come in the new year.

Together, Endace and our Fusion Partners provide a shared source of truth, based on a common platform for the tools that SecOps, NetOps, DevOps and IT teams need to secure the network from cyberattack, ensuring the ongoing performance and reliability of the network and the applications that run on it, said John Attala, Endaces VP Worldwide Sales. Our integrations make it easier for our channel partners to maximize the utility of the technology solutions theyve already provided their customers for best-of-breed incident/issue response. And customers value the common platform approach to deploying security and performance analytics tools.

Endace has been continuing to expand its channel partners around the world throughout 2019, and this month engaged two new channel partners to meet growing customer demand in Asia-Pacific. Athena Dynamics is a consulting distributor for Singapore and Southeast Asia, while Cornet Solutions recently joined as a key reseller partner in Japan.

The EndaceProbe Analytics Platform is the industry’s only open packet capture platform, combining accurate, highly scalable, packet capture with the ability to host and integrate with network security and performance monitoring solutions from a wide variety of vendors (as well as open-source or custom applications). Solutions that can be hosted on and/or integrated with EndaceProbes include SIEMs, network and application performance monitoring, intrusion detection, next generation firewalls, threat detection and AI/ML-based security.

About Endace

Endaces EndaceProbe Analytics Platform can host 3rd-party network analytics applications while simultaneously recording 100% accurate Network History, enabling fast, accurate detection, investigation and analysis of network security and performance issues.

Liam Hendriks, Devin Williams Named 2020 Relievers of the Year Presented by The Hartford

Liam Hendriks of the Oakland Athletics is the winner of the 2020 Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award, and rookie Devin Williams of the Milwaukee Brewers is the winner of the 2020 Trevor Hoffman National League Reliever of the Year Award, Major League Baseball and presenting sponsor The Hartford announced today. Williams has become the first rookie and the first pitcher without a save ever to earn either the Hoffman or Rivera Award.

Honored is an understatement, said Hendriks. Its humbling to win an award that bears the name of the greatest closer in history. Im extremely thankful to my teammates. If they werent behind me on the field, I wouldnt be half the pitcher I am today. A huge thank you to the bullpen for sharing years of invaluable advice and experience with me. Thank you to the coaching staff and the entire organization for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play in the green and gold. To my agency, MVP, for all the work you do behind the scenes. A huge thank you to Codify for keeping me ahead of the game. A sincere thank you to the panel of voters. To be recognized by your greatness is a true honor. Finally, to As fans everywhere, Ive had the privilege to represent you since I arrived here five years ago and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am very excited to earn NL Reliever of the Year and have this prestigious award remain with the Brewers for a third straight season, said Williams. I want to thank the organization “ particularly my manager, coaches and teammates “ for all of the support. I also thank the great Brewers fans, who were watching and cheering us on from home during this unique season.

Balloting for the Rivera and Hoffman Awards, which debuted in the 2014 season, was conducted among a panel of seven all-time great relievers in order to determine the recipients. Rivera and Hoffman, both of whom spent their entire careers in the same League en route to the top of the all-time saves list, were joined as voters by three fellow Hall of Fame relief pitchers “ Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers and Lee Smith “ as well as John Franco and Billy Wagner. The seven voters ranked the top three AL relief pitchers and the top three NL relief pitchers based solely on regular season performance, using a 5-3-1 weighted point system.

In his 10th Major League season and his fifth with the As, Hendriks posted a 1.78 ERA in his 24 games. In 25.1 innings pitched, he allowed just 14 hits and three walks (0.67 WHIP) while striking out 37. The native of Perth, Australia collected a 3-1 record and saved 14 games for the American League West Champion As. In Game Three of Oaklands Division Series against the Houston Astros, the 31-year-old Hendriks pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn the win, keeping the As season alive. Hendriks was the runner-up to Aroldis Chapman of the New York Yankees for the 2019 Rivera Award, in a season in which he set an As record with 122 strikeouts as a reliever, ahead of Hall of Famers Fingers and Eckersley.

In his first full season in the Majors, the 26-year-old Williams shined in his 22 appearances for the Brewers, who reached their third straight Postseason in 2020. The rookie assembled a 0.33 ERA and fanned 53 batters in his 27.0 innings of work, in which he surrendered just one earned run on eight hits and nine walks (0.63 WHIP). Among all Major League pitchers with at least 20.0 innings, the St. Louis native posted MLBs best ERA, WHIP and opposing batting average (.090), and he tied for the Major League lead among relievers in strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings (17.67). His changeup emerged as one of the signature pitches in the game. Williams allowed an earned run in the Brewers fourth game of the season (July 27th) and none thereafter, which included a span of holding opponents hitless in 31 straight at-bats from August 14th-September 11th. The Brewers have now won three consecutive Hoffman Awards, as Williams teammate Josh Hader was the recipient in both 2018 and 2019.

The AL relievers who were runners-up were Alex Colom (2-0, 0.81 ERA, 12 saves, 22.1 IP, 13 H, 8 BB, 16 SO) of the Chicago White Sox and Brad Hand (2-1, 2.05 ERA, 16 saves, 22.0 IP, 13 H, 4 BB, 29 SO) of the Cleveland Indians. The NL pitchers who were runners-up were Trevor Rosenthal (1-0, 1.90 ERA, 11 saves, 23.2 IP, 12 H, 8 BB, 38 SO), who joined the San Diego Padres via a trade from the Kansas City Royals in August, and Jeremy Jeffress (4-1, 1.54 ERA, 8 saves, 23.1 IP, 10 H, 12 BB, 17 SO) of the Chicago Cubs.

The Rivera and Hoffman Awards replaced MLBs Delivery Man of the Year Award, which was presented to one winner in all of Major League Baseball from 2005-2013. These awards continue a longstanding baseball tradition of honoring the games top relief pitchers. The winners have been:

Forecasted Highest Winds and Driest Conditions of the Season Mean PG&E May Need to Proactively Turn Off Power for Safety to Customers Across Northern and Central California

Pacific Gas and Electric Companys (PG&E) Emergency Operations Center, Meteorology team and Wildfire Safety Operations Center are working together and tracking a significant, offshore wind event starting Sunday that is forecast to have the driest humidity levels and the strongest winds of the wildfire season thus far.

PG&E has notified customers in targeted portions of 38 counties about a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) expected to start as early as Sunday morning (Oct. 25). Extremely dry, windy conditions with high gusts pose an increased risk for damage to the electric system that has the potential to ignite fires in areas with critically dry vegetation.

While there is still uncertainty regarding the strength and timing of this weather wind event, high fire-risk conditions are expected to arrive Sunday morning. High winds are currently expected to subside Monday morning (Oct. 26) in most impacted areas, with windy conditions lingering in some regions through early Tuesday (Oct. 27). PG&E will then patrol the de-energized lines to assess whether they were damaged during the wind event. PG&E will safely restore power as quickly as possible, with the goal of restoring most customers within 12 daylight hours, based on current weather conditions.

The highest probability areas for this PSPS include terrain of the northern and western Sacramento Valley, Northern and Central Sierra as well as higher terrain of the Bay Area, including the Santa Cruz Mountains, Central Coast Region and portions of southern Kern.

Customer Notification and Impact

The potential PSPS event is still approximately 24 hours away. PG&E in-house meteorologists, as well as staff in its Wildfire Safety Operations Center and Emergency Operations Center, will continue to monitor conditions closely and will actively look for opportunities to reduce the scope of the impacts based on evolving weather models and PSPS mitigation efforts such as the use of sectionalizing devices and temporary generation. Additional customer notifications will be issued as we move closer to the potential event.

Customer notificationsvia text, email and automated phone callbegan Friday afternoon, approximately two days prior to the potential shutoff. Customers enrolled in the companys Medical Baseline program who do not verify that they have received these important safety communications will be individually visited in person by a PG&E employee with a knock on their door when possible. A primary focus will be given to customers who rely on electricity for critical life-sustaining equipment.

Customers can look up their address online to find out if their location is being monitored for the potential safety shutoff, and find the full list of affected counties, cities and communities at

Community Resource Centers Reflect COVID-Safety Protocols

PG&E will open 109 Community Resource Centers (CRCs) to support our customers. Locations of these CRCs is available at PG&Es emergency website ( These temporary CRCs will be open to customers when power is out at their homes and will provide ADA-accessible restrooms and hand-washing stations; medical-equipment charging; Wi-Fi; bottled water; and non-perishable snacks.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all CRCs will follow important health and safety protocols including:

  • Facial coverings and maintaining a physical distance of at least six feet from those who are not part of the same household will be required at all CRCs.
  • Temperature checks will be administered before entering CRCs that are located indoors.
  • CRC staff will be trained in COVID-19 precautions and will regularly sanitize surfaces and use Plexiglass barriers at check-in.
  • All CRCs will follow county and state requirements regarding COVID-19, including limits on the number of customers permitted indoors at any time.

Besides these health protocols, customers visiting a CRC in 2020 will experience further changes, including a different look and feel. In addition to using existing indoor facilities, PG&E is planning to open CRCs at outdoor, open-air sites in some locations and use large commercial vans as CRCs in other locations. CRC locations will depend on a number of factors, including input from local and tribal leaders. Outdoor CRCs will provide grab-and-go supply bags so most customers can be on their way quickly.

Where to Go to Learn More

  • PG&Es emergency website ( is now available in 13 languages. Currently, the website is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Russian, Vietnamese, Korean, Farsi, Arabic, Hmong, Khmer, Punjabi and Japanese. • Tenants and non-account holders can sign up to receive PSPS ZIP Code Alerts for any area where you do not have a PG&E account by visiting
  • PG&E has launched a new tool at its online Safety Action Center ( to help customers prepare. By using the “Make Your Own Emergency Plan” tool and answering a few short questions, visitors to the website can compile and organize the important information needed for a personalized family emergency plan. This includes phone numbers, escape routes and a family meeting location if an evacuation is necessary.

How Customers Can Prepare for a PSPS
