Macquarie Investment Management today announced that Daniela Mardarovici, CFA, is joining the firms global fixed income team as co-head of Multisector/Core Plus Fixed Income on March 18, 2019.
Based in Philadelphia, Mardarovici will report to David Hillmeyer, head of Multisector/Global Fixed Income for Macquarie Investment Management Americas. The firms multisector strategies leverage capabilities across the entire organization, with more than 100 global fixed income investment professionals in London, New York, Philadelphia, and Sydney, who collectively manage approximately $US135 billion for clients globally.
Multisector strategies are central to a solutions-based approach to serving the evolving needs of our clients, Hillmeyer said. Daniela brings nearly 19 years of industry experience to Macquarie, including more than a decade leading fixed income business development strategy. She has a strong investment track record, and were delighted that shes joining the firm as we continue to enhance our fixed income solutions.
Additionally, after more than 26 years with the firm and nearly four decades as an investor, Paul Grillo, lead portfolio manager for the firms US Core Plus Fixed Income strategy, will retire from Macquarie Investment Management effective June 1, 2019. Hillmeyer will succeed Grillo as co-head of the strategy along with Mardarovici. Grillo remains an active member of the team until June, working closely with Hillmeyer, Mardarovici, and the entire fixed income team to ensure a smooth transition. There will be no changes to the teams style, philosophy, or investment process.

Mardarovici was named one of the top 20 female portfolio managers by CityWire in 2018. For the past 13 years, she has worked for BMO Global Asset Management as a senior portfolio manager responsible for driving investment strategy and managing institutional portfolios and mutual funds across numerous strategies, including Core, Core Plus, Credit, Multisector, and Liability-Driven Investing. As a member of the management committee at BMO GAMs fixed income affiliate Taplin, Canida & Habacht, she helped drive business strategy and led a team of 22 investment and noninvestment staff. She previously served on the executive committee and board of directors for the CFA Society of Chicago. She is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of New York. Mardarovici has a bachelors degree in economics and finance/banking from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
